Jalal-Abad State University

Jalal-Abad State University (JaSU), officially named after B. Osmonov, is a government-run higher education institution established on April 2, 1993, in the city of Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan. The university was formed from earlier schools and technical colleges, inheriting a long-standing tradition of pedagogical and veterinary education that dates back to the early 20th century.

JaSU offers a wide range of academic programs across multiple fields, including medicine, electronics, energy, construction, education, and agro-industrial sciences. These programs are organized through different faculties, colleges, and regional branches, making it a comprehensive center of higher learning in Kyrgyzstan.

The university currently serves around 10,000 to 14,000 students and is supported by more than 700 academic staff members, among them over 100 full professors and 200 candidates of science. Its international student body is vibrant and diverse, with learners coming from India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and many other countries.

One of the university’s most notable faculties is the Faculty of Medicine (MBBS), which delivers an English-medium program recognized by leading global organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Medical Commission (NMC), FAIMER, ECFMG, and WDOMS. The MBBS course extends over six years—five years of academic study followed by a one-year compulsory internship—preparing graduates to meet global standards and pursue medical licensing across various countries.

For practical training, students gain hands-on clinical experience in university-affiliated hospitals, including Jalal-Abad City Hospital, the Perinatal Hospital, the Maternity Hospital, and the Territorial Polyclinic. This ensures that medical education is not limited to classrooms but also rooted in real-world patient care.

In addition to academics, JaSU pays strong attention to student life and well-being. It provides hostel facilities separated for male and female students, equipped with essential amenities such as internet access, Indian-style dining, and 24/7 security. Students also take part in academic circles, knowledge-based events, and constructive activities that support learning and personal growth.

Nationally and internationally, JaSU is recognized in academic rankings, holding positions within the top universities in Kyrgyzstan and being listed among thousands of institutions worldwide.

Situated in Jalal-Abad, a culturally rich and historically important city, the university offers students a balanced environment of academic excellence, affordable education, and a welcoming atmosphere that attracts learners from around the globe.
